Welcome to Plaxtol Nursery School
AN OUTSTANDING NURSERY SCHOOL
Plaxtol Nursery School is a thriving part of the village community offering the Early Years Foundation Stage to children from the age of 2.5 years until they go to primary school.
We provide a kind and caring atmosphere where children learn in a stimulating and well resourced environment. We enjoy nature rambles across the fields and regular outings to the recreation ground and places of interest. Parents are invited to take an active part in their child’s learning and nursery school events.
We have a vibrant and well qualified staff team who are led by Adedayo Olufote and Gillian Knight. Adedayo is a Qualified Teacher and also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education specialising in Early Years Education. Gillian Knight has been in early Years education for over 30 years and holds a National Nursery Examination Board Diploma
We are open Monday to Friday from 9am - 3pm. Term Time only. We offer 30 hours funding to children and allow flexibility with your funded hours either 30 hours or 15 hours.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
FUN, FRIENDS AND FIRM FOUNDATIONS
You are your child’s first and most important educators. We aim to work with you to build on the skills your children have already acquired at home, to broaden their horizons and provide many happy experiences.
We aim to provide a welcoming environment with a wide range of imaginative, interesting and exciting activities. The curriculum is play based with a mix of child initiated and adult planned activities where staff play alongside children to help them develop new skills. Children are encouraged to discover, explore and develop their natural curiosity.
We aim to provide a safe and secure environment where children are respected as individuals and learn to care for the needs of others. Children are praised for all their achievements and staff have a positive and consistent approach to ensure that children play within clear boundaries.
We aim to provide equality of opportunity for all children and their families. We are an inclusive setting and value each individual regardless of race, religion, gender, language, disability or family background.

“My daughter loves it at Plaxtol Nursery School and has such a wonderful time there.
They go on so many trips and outings, and she comes home with some sort of craft almost every day!”

Early Years Foundation Stage
We are registered to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which is the legal document providing a framework for children between birth and the age 5.
The EYFS sets out the legal welfare requirements that settings must follow to keep children safe and promote their welfare. There are 7 areas of learning and development which guide your child’s play experiences as they learn new skills and knowledge. Assessments are made at regular intervals that tell you about your child’s progress through the EYFS to reach the Early Learning Goals at age 5.
Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside.
